Plantation 2 This part of the Plantation neighborhood backs onto a canal, and beyond that, the 595. The noise from the highway wasn’t so bad before a hurricane tore down some the trees between the cars and the water.

The wheels off an old workbench, in the rain. It’s all being shipped to Trinidad, along with a compressor, an electric drill set, and a nail gun, among other things. The skill saw used to construct the shipping container (expertly strewn together with plywood, 2"x2"s and screws from Home Depot) was thrown in for good measure.

Old Ford 3 Here’s how you install the windshield: With string laid on the inside of the rubber gasket, push the windshield into the frame. While keeping the pressure on the windshield from the outside, carefully pull the string out of the gasket from the inside to create the seal.

Florida doesn’t just reek of old Blue Jays fans, but plain old blue jays, too. This is my only photographic evidence.

The Fourth 3 Out of the literally hundreds of snappies of the Fourth of July fireworks in Plantation, this was the best one. Don’t drink and shoot, kids.

Yes, let’s drive to the Sunshine State, best known for kidnapped Cuban boys and electoral meltdowns, empty condominiums and old Jewish people. We took the 95 from Baltimore on down, and instead of staying overnight in beautiful, historic Savannah, Ga., we picked a Super 8 hotel off the highway in South Carolina where the management threatened to call the police on me for being brown with camera. Next time, next time...
