Auction firm amped for its rock ’n’ roll set
1. A signed Mickey Mouse Club T-shirt; 2. Johnny Cash’s San Quentin denim jumpsuit; 3. Elvis’ “Peacock” jumpsuit; 4. John Lennon’s talisman necklace
Andrew S. Garib, METRO New York Link PDF New York. Elvis Presley’s favorite peacock jumpsuit—featured on the cover of his 1975 album “Promised Land”—is on the auction block for the first time, an Upper East Side memorabilia vendor announced Thursday.
Gotta Have It! Collectibles said it hopes the colorful high-collared outfit The King wore in concert will fetch $300,000 at the auction for rock ’n’ roll memorabilia.
Also up for sale are John Lennon’s talisman necklace, bought in India in 1967 and the only item he wore in a famous 1968 photo with Yoko Ono. Auctioneers hope it will fetch more than $500,000.
More recent items include Britney Spears’ Mickey Mouse Club shirt, signed by fellow members including Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera and later by Spears herself. That one could fetch up to $18,000.
The online auction ends Aug. 6.
My last article with METRO New York. Pretty fun.
