Three chickpeas in a presidential pod

Andrew S. Garib, METRO New York Link PDF Midtown. The Great Hummus Faceoff seemed like a tall order to Kirk Rademaker. Hummus hawkers Sabra Dipping Co. commissioned the sand artist to create busts of presidential candidates Barack Obama, John McCain and Hillary Clinton out of the garlicky, mashed chickpea dip for the 54th Summer Fancy Food Show. Republican McCain was the easiest given his jowly mug.
“It’s like he lifts weights with his jaw,” Rademaker said of the Arizona senator. “Stuff was sagging into his cheeks, so he looked better as the day went on.”
Obama and Clinton suffered more under the ravages of gravity and required constant touch-ups with a trowel.
Rademaker is more used to creating 7-foot-tall sand castles for corporate events and A-list parties. But he spent hours creating these faces, finishing with raisins for Obama’s and McCain’s eyes and blue M&Ms for Clinton’s.
