MySpace snub ‘sparked’ stab

Andrew S. Garib, METRO New York | Link | PDF | Talk about immaturity. The 12-year-old girl who was allegedly stabbed Wednesday by an 18-year-old woman said calling her older assailant “immature” over MySpace set off the attack.

Police say Stephanie Torres stabbed her boyfriend’s little sister, Stephanie Useche, four times with an inch-long folding knife. She was wounded once in the neck, twice in the arms and once in the ribs, she said.

“I got a message from MySpace from this girl, Stephanie Torres, saying I can’t afford clothes, and then I sent her back a message saying I’m not going to fight her because she’s too immature,” Stephanie Useche of Dover, N.J., told Metro Thursday.

Moments after the digital exchange, Torres arrived at her house to confront the middle-schooler, the girl said.

“She got out her keys and she just took out something and she just stabbed me,” Stephanie Useche said.

Torres was later apprehended by police driving on her way to the hospital, The Newark Star-Ledger reported. Stephane said she had to get thirteen stitches.

Torres was charged with aggravated assault and weapons possession. She is known to police for two past assaults, one of them against a school employee, police said.

The preteen said she maintained her poise during the incident. “If someone called me immature, I would not go and stab them just for that,” she said. End.
