His record suggests the top candidate has trouble speaking truth to power

Michael Ignatieff, the leading contender, had an advantage going in. Articulate and telegenic, he had several other assets: a towering intellect, international stature and the blessings of part of the Liberal establishment.
But he has been battered along the way, sometimes for peripheral reasons, namely, that he can be too self-absorbed and arrogant or that he has reportedly been ruthless to those closest to him.
