CBC News Full Story Dubbing himself “Mike B” for the day, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced plans for a six-day, city-wide celebration of hip hop this fall.
After welcoming visitors to his City Hall “crib” on Thursday, Bloomberg announced the festivities, set to coincide with U.S. music network VH1’s third annual Hip Hop Honours awards show.
Flanked by hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and performer Ice-T, Bloomberg stressed the importance of celebrating “an art form that has influenced generations and reached the farthest corners of the world.” >>
